Mentorly
Technical oversight for founders

Great technology starts with the right decisions.

Mentorly works alongside founders and engineering teams to make sure products are architected, integrated, measured, and operated correctly, without replacing the team building them.

Your developers build the product. Mentorly makes sure the technology behind it makes sense.

Three roles, one product

Implementation, business, and the technical decisions in between.

  • Founders

Own the business: what to build, for whom, and in what order. They need technology that serves the plan without having to read the code.

  • Engineering team

Own the implementation: the code, the systems, the day-to-day delivery. In-house, agency or outsourced, they build the product.

  • Mentorly

Owns the technical oversight that connects the two: architecture, integrations, metrics, reliability and engineering execution, evaluated independently and explained in plain terms.

Who we work with

Companies that already have people building the product.

Mentorly is not a development agency. We work with the team you already have, so the technical decisions behind the product get the same attention as the product itself.

  • Non-technical founders

You are leading a software company without a technical co-founder and need someone who represents your interests in every technical decision.

  • Founders with an in-house team

You have engineers and want senior, independent oversight of architecture, execution and technical risk without adding a management layer.

  • Companies working with agencies

An agency or outsourced team builds your product and you want technical proposals, estimates and integrations evaluated by someone on your side.

  • Companies not ready for a full-time CTO

You need technical direction and engineering visibility now, before a full-time executive hire is the right investment.

Technical oversight

Know what is being built before it becomes expensive to change.

Mentorly continuously evaluates your product, infrastructure, integrations, metrics and engineering execution. Six areas, one independent view.

How we work

From product decision to production reality.

Four steps that repeat for as long as the engagement runs. Each one ends in something written that you can read, question and act on.

  1. Understand

The business, the product, the team, the architecture, the constraints and the current risks.

  2. Decide

Evaluate the options and define the technical direction that fits the goals and the team.

  3. Guide

Turn technical decisions into practical direction the engineering team can act on.

  4. Monitor

Continuously evaluate execution, systems, metrics, integrations and emerging technical risks.

Packages

Two ways to work with us.

  • Monthly engagement

    Technical Oversight

Continuous technical analysis and engineering visibility.

For companies that already have an engineering team and need experienced technical oversight of what is being built, how it is being built, and how the system is performing.

  • Monthly engagement

    Engineering Leadership

Technical Oversight with active engineering operations and direction.

Everything in Technical Oversight, plus task management, pull request lifecycle management and internal technical improvements. Product priorities stay with you; Mentorly runs the technical execution structure.

Technical decisions decide outcomes more often than effort does.

Research and first-hand accounts on why independent technical judgment on the founder's side changes what gets built. Our note under each one says what we take from it.

How Expert Mentoring Fuels Startup Success

Our take: Cites Endeavor Insight: startups with mentors were 1.7 times more likely to raise funding and 3.5 times more likely to grow significantly. The gap is in decisions avoided, not hours worked.

FAQ

Questions founders ask before they get in touch.

Direct answers to the things that usually decide whether a conversation is worth having.

We are not technical. Can you still help?

Yes. Most of the founders we work with are not engineers. We translate technical decisions into business terms, explain the tradeoffs, and make sure you can act on them without reading code.

Do you build the product?

No. Your own engineers or agency build the product. Mentorly provides the technical oversight and direction around what they build: architecture, integrations, metrics, reliability and engineering execution.

We already have a CTO or a lead engineer. Is this still relevant?

Often, yes. Technical leaders benefit from an independent second view on architecture, vendors and technical risk, and founders benefit from visibility that does not depend on a single person. We work alongside the technical lead, not around them.

What is the difference between the two packages?

Technical Oversight is continuous analysis and visibility: features, integrations, systems, metrics, interviews and engineering performance. Engineering Leadership includes all of that and adds active operations: task management, pull request lifecycle management and internal technical improvements.

How does an engagement start?

With a conversation about the product, the team and the decisions in front of you. From there we recommend a package, a one-time service, or neither, and scope it with you before anything is committed.

How do we know Mentorly is the right fit?

Ask us hard questions in the first conversation. We will tell you what we would look at first, how we would work with your team, and plainly when a problem sits outside what we do.

Make technical decisions before they become technical debt.

Tell us what you are building and who is building it. We will tell you where independent technical oversight would change the outcome.
